One year ago today was when the twins gave us our first scare. At this time last year at only 24 weeks into the pregnancy I went into labour. By the following morning the contractions had stopped on there own. The twins would have probably survived at that gestation but we would probably have been faced with a lot of complictions. They held on for three more weeks and then decided that was it!

AVERY
OLIVIA
BESTFRIENDS
Olivia & Avery are 8 months now (11 months corrected age) we had the girls baptized last month on April 23rd. We had lots of friends & family come out for the big event, even the girls great Aunt and two great Uncles made it from Pittsburgh. Avery's godparents are Auntie Nancy & Uncle Roberto and Olivia's godparents are Auntie Jennifer & Uncle Mike. Both are doing great, they have become very curious of everything. Everything they see they want. They are both standing but not crawling yet, we figure they are still a ways off from that. Next month is their one year check up at the doctors so we'll be able to update everyone then on how much they weigh.

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Saturday, February 25, 2006

Olivia and Avery are now 5months (8 months corrected age) and are doing terriffic! They have both discovered that they can roll over and are becoming more and more fond of eachother everyday. They both love to play in their exercauser's and think that pulling daddy's hair is very funny. They have started to eat cereal twice a day and are doing great. They open big and wide when they see the spoon coming. Next month we'll start them on baby food. Let the mess begin!! Next month we are also back at McMaster for growth and development checks on both girls. The last check-up they had they were both above average in their development. So despite their early arrival the twins are actually ahead of the game. That makes mommy and daddy very happy. The girls next doctor visit is at the end of this month so we'll keep everyone updated on how much weight they've gained.

Before we know it they are going to be a year old! The picture posted here is going to be in the Oakville Beaver's 2005 arrivals along with their cousin Noah. Hope everyone gets a chance to see it.

SOOO CUTE!
This is Olivia and Avery's first picture with their cousin Nicholas. Nicholas was born on August 6th 2005 at McMaster Hospital. He was also premature by 6 weeks. During his 2 week stay at the hospital he and the girls were just down the hall from eachother. As you can see Avery's not too sure why she's having to share the spotlight with someone else other than her sister, and as for Olivia as usual she could care less about it. All three are doing great. They are getting bigger by the day!
THANKSGIVING DAY
Olivia & Avery celebrated their first thanksgiving at Baka and Deda's house this year. Both girls enjoyed every minute of it. They were happy to see their Uncle Roberto and Auntie Nancy and of course their favorite cousin Nicholas! Maybe next year they'll be able to have a taste of turkey with the rest of us.
We are snapping pictures everyday so we'll continue to keep everyone updated!

Sleeping Beauties
Our two little sleeping beauties had another doctor's appointment today for a weight check. Avery has leaped to 6lbs 13oz and Olivia is now 5lbs 12oz. Dr. Arani was very happy with their growth and has no concerns. Our preemies are not so preemie anymore. They're getting bigger by the day.

Olivia and Avery had their eye test on Thursday and they checked out fine. Olivia needs to be checked again in four months and Avery in two. Avery's retina is still imature but getting better.

We took the girls out in these dresses given to them by auntie Nicole and we thought they were just adorable in them. They are doing really well and Olivia has finnaly picked up on her feeds. She's waking up on her own now when she's hugry.

This picture here of Olivia's arm was taken back on July 3rd 2005. The nurses thought it would be a good idea to get a picture of daddy's wedding ring around Olivia's arm before she got to big. This gives you a good idea of how small they actually were. Shannon's mom showed this picture to one of her friends and she thought it was a bracelet. When she was told it was daddy's wedding ring she started to cry. Well those days are behind us now but we thought this picture would be cute to share with everyone.

Olivia & Avery's first picture together.
The twins are home at last. Avery arrived home on Tuesday September 6, 2005 weighing 5lbs. 9oz. and Olivia on Thursday September 15, 2005 weighing 5lbs. 4oz. Olivia and Avery were reunited on the exact day that they were expected to be be born.

Having Avery home a whole week before Olivia came home gave us a chance to feel parenthood for the first time, but nothing could prepare us for the sleepless nights that lie ahead once Olivia arrived home. Avery has been feeding very well and gaining weight each day. Olivia has also been gaining weight every day but she is having difficulty with her feeds. In a week or so we should see dramatic improvements.

Olivia had her first doctors appointment today with Dr. Arani and she checked out fine. She has gained 3oz. in four days and they are both scheduled for another check up on the 26th. We'll keep everyone posted on their progress.
